Target Audience: This technical guide is written for automotive distributors, engineers, repair workshops, and OEM buyers sourcing replacement gas springs or custom lift supports.

The Achilles Heel of Gas Springs

The core of any gas spring is compressed nitrogen. The only thing keeping that high-pressure gas inside the steel cylinder is a small rubber seal wrapped around the moving piston rod. When that seal fails, the strut dies. This is why multi-lip NBR sealing is a revolution in strut durability.

Why NBR?

Nitrile Butadiene Rubber (NBR) is highly resistant to hydraulic oils and wide temperature fluctuations. However, standard single-lip seals can eventually allow microscopic amounts of gas to escape with each stroke, especially if dust gets on the rod.

The Multi-Lip Advantage

By engineering a seal with multiple contact points (lips), we create redundant barriers against pressure loss. The outer lip acts as a dust wiper, keeping grit away from the internal pressure chamber. The inner lips maintain a perfect hermetic seal around the micro-polished rod, dramatically extending the operational lifespan of the gas spring.
